In my negotiations with Mexican companies I noticed that the main theme was food. I found that all of our substantial conversations and sharing of information revolved around long meals at a nice and comfortable restaurant. This makes sense as it relates to relationship-oriented cultures. There was a definite expectation to establish a personal rapport prior to getting down to serious business discussions. My colleague and I were treated to a series of excellent lunches and dinners — including fine tequilas — before real inquiries were made about what our company was offering.
I am curious if any one else has had similar experiences doing business in Mexico?
