Lothar KatzLothar Katz is a management advisor in the field of international business and the founding president of cross-cultural consultancy Leadership Crossroads in Dallas, Texas. With his wealth of experience in achieving productive cooperation and driving business success on a global scale, he has helped numerous companies and other organizations, including Fortune 500 corporations such as EDS, Hewlett-Packard, Merck & Co., and Texas Instruments, improve their management effectiveness and business results.

His primary areas of expertise are international business leadership, negotiation, and project management. Working for Texas Instruments, Mr. Katz, who grew up and started his career in Germany, successfully led international organizations across four continents as a Vice President and General Manager, regularly interacting with employees, customers, outsourcing vendors, and other partners around the world. He has also served on the board of a public company and as an advisor to several start-up businesses.

Mr. Katz is the author of Negotiating International Business – The Negotiator’s Reference Guide to 50 Countries Around the World (Booksurge, 2nd edition 2007) and a regular contributing author to NBIZ Magazine. He teaches, or has taught, International Business at the Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business, International Negotiation and Project Management at the University of Texas at Dallas’ School of Management, Negotiation as a guest lecturer at the University of Washington’s Business School, and International Management at Lehigh University. He is an executive board member of the DFW Asian American Citizens Council. In 2007, Mr. Katz received the organization’s prestigious Chair’s Award. He also serves on the board of the DFW Institute of Management Consultants (IMC).

In addition to his client and academic work, Mr. Katz frequently speaks at local or nationwide conferences and organizational meetings. Recent public presentations included “Negotiating International Business” (Project Management Institute, Houston, 2008, and Council for Supply Chain Management Professionals, Dallas, 2007), “Negotiating and Innovating a Partnership in China” (“Innovation with Partners in China” Conference, Boston/San Diego, 2007), “Project Management Across Borders” (Project Management Institute, Houston, 2007), “Negotiating in the United States” (Asian American Citizens Council, Dallas, 2007), “Global Cultural Skills” (Fort Worth International Center, 2007), “Co-Developing Products in Asia” (MRT, 2005, 2006, and 2007), and “Doing Business in China” (“Building and Enforcing IP Value in China” Conference, San Francisco/New York, 2005, 2006, and 2007). Together with Dr. Sue Freedman, he co-developed and frequently co-instructs a series of workshops on “Managing Projects Across Borders.”
